KC Sandbagger internet meme weekender edition

Someone suggested that I call this dude out but crossresults must be busted because I can't find his results. So instead, we'll do dopplegangers and urban dictionary entries since its all the rage.

Urban Dictionary entry for JB:

1. To trip over a barrier:
Dude I got so wasted last night that I JB'd over that hooker when I got up in the middle of the night to read Kc Sandbagger.

2. To incessantly jibber jabber while others are trying to concentrate:
Dude I missed my damn callup because my teammate wouldn't stop JBing and made me accidently slather Mad Alchemy on my nuts.

3. To completely blow:
Dude I was tryin to hang with Marshall and the boys up Renner but completely JBed and pretended like I got a flat.

  1. Which one of those guys races around here? I don't recognize either.

  2. "I'm thinking I might take that new chick from Logistics. If things go well I might be showing her my O-face. "Oh... Oh... Oh!" You know what I'm talkin' about. "Oh!" "

  4. I just looked that dude (the one on the right) up, and it appears that he's one of these bubble guys. He seems to finish mid-field in 3/4, or mostly a masters class, so is he REALLY ready to race Open?

Not right now, I think, unless a whole bunch of other people CTFU, too.

But, say, a few other dudes see the light and CTFU, and he doesn't. THEN he becomes a 'bagger, because he starts to finish in the top five every week, and doesn't move. Or does he?

My answer: This dude isn't a bagger.

  5. I just looked that dude (the one on the left) up,

He is best known for his role as cocky office worker Drew "the O Face Guy" in the film Office Space. He has taken bit roles in numerous films and television series, including Grey's Anatomy and Sons & Daughters, and is currently featured as "Vincent" in Allstate Insurance advertisements with sidekick Andrew Hawtrey as "Bergwood".

    My answer: Total bagger.

  6. I just looked both dudes (the ones in the post) up,

Don't know either one of them but they look exactly alike!

My answer: Put down the bottle cuz I'm in the bag

Speaking of Oh-Face, this JB is definitely not a sandbagger. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure how he made it to Cat3 road. I don't see no Cat4 points at all. As long as you are calling out guys who "don't like to steer", you might as well bring up the fact that JB took out a whole mess of us down in Tulsa.
    Sandbagger=NO.
    BROWNBAGGER=MOST DEFINITELY!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Interesting comments, Tulsa Tougher. Made more interesting by the fact that JB spends no small amount of time piously criticizing other cyclists on various forums for crashing.

    ReplyDelete
  20. all in good fun? if you race in enough crits, you are eventually gonna go down. and in fields the size of tulsa, unfortunately some people are gonna go down with you. JB handles his road bike well in crits. I am sure mr. tulsa tougher is probably a pro though. so he should know....right tulsa tough-guy??

All in good fun? Did JB and his dwindling roster of supporters get their feelers hurt? Because it's always fun and games when he's blasting other people, right?

For two years, all I ever heard from a wide swath of people was unrestrained negativity about JB. I tried to keep an open mind about him, but the two occasions where I had interactions with him, it was met with this unprovoked snobishness, as though to say "I don't recall you requesting an audience with the King of Kansas City Cycling."

It's too bad, because there are some nice fellas on SKC. But JB, as the team's Grand Poobah, does a terrible job of representing the team as well as its sponsors.

    ReplyDelete
  22. ouch!! if you dont like someone, you dont like i guess. what is your complaint though, that he like the rest of us i one time or another caused a wreck in a crit or that he is an A-hole?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous @ 6:42 p.m.,

Crashing in and of itself really isn't the issue. Anyone who has done the sports understands that it can happen to anyone. It sucks, it's painful and it's a forgettable experience for everyone involved.

But when you're going around slagging people and teams for crashing and then you do it yourself, then you've caught the business end of the boomerang of karma. If JB only crashes and moves on, then I feel genuinely bad for him. When he precedes his wreck with a bunch of shittalking about other people's bike-handling skills, and then follows up his wreck with more of the same, then therein lies the rub. In JB's case, his schadenfreude has caught up to him, insofar as his crashing is concerned.

That said, a commenter above has a valid point: Anyone who rides long enough is going to go down. It's the way you handle yourself afterwards that makes the difference.

Whether or not he's an asshole, well, I guess his behavior and attitude speaks for itself and we're all left to translate that language. From where I stand, it seems like I can throw a rock in any direction at any local race and have a very good chance of hitting someone who does not have nice things to say about JB.

  28. to the guy who doesn't care for JB,

here is where i have a problem with this blog and your comments about 'JB". some people who have commented on this site do not come off as joking or 'tongue in cheek'. that is the problem with the written word. we dont get to hear the tone in one's voice or facial expressions to note wether a person is 'joking' or not unless they verbally make it clear that they are joking. r5 has made it clear that he is posting totally as a joke. but others who are adding to the blog are not joking. it is those people i find rather 'childish' and just plain weak for doing all their 'shittalking' without signing their name to there comments. some people here have used this blog as a tool to air out all of the their personal problems with guys they have raced against in the past. some anons come off as just plain bitter because they have had their asses 'handed' to them and they dont want to train or work a little harder to compete with the others that do work and train hard.

now let me be clear, your comments dont seem that way at all, but they are personal. in fact i would tend to agree with you so i am not defending 'JB's honor in anyway. i am just expressing my dislike for the way you are going about it. if somebody thinks someone is an asshole, then have the courage to say it to that someones' face or attach a name to your comments. if you dont want to do that, then just dont say anything at all. all this blog has become is a 'high school girls' gossip blog.

  29. I am angered and feel sad for those who (are not kidding or joking) maliciously bash someone (anyone) while hiding behind the anonymity of a Blog. This is Bruce Edwards so I will never be accused of not doing what I preach. After 6+ years in the community, I have been "worn out" with stuff like this therefore I care much less about the "issues" or "injustices" that supposedly have occurred or will continue to occur while racing a Fucking BIKE!!!! A BIKE for God sake!!!! My priorities have shifted for reasons I would rather not talk about and my closing comment is for everyone to move on, take the high road and count your blessings. I feel better now. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  30. unfortunately Bruce, your words and perspective will only fall on deaf ears to those that really need to listen to them. There are few who are above the frey here. hope though, lies with the young racers coming into the sport like alex and others. you are directly responsible for him and what is so great about this sport of 'cross' and cycling. good and humble persons like alex make it easy to cheer for wether its in cycling or their other walks of life. just know that not to many people are gonna have the perspective that you have right now for obvious reasons and there are really just a few who the muddy the waters here. for whatever its worth Bruce, thanks.

  31. I had menstrual cramps the first race of the cx season in 2009. I regularly puke in crits. I get dropped on the flats. I am not a good racer. When I said I was coming to ToKC last year, JB was nothing but welcoming and very cool...and he had never met me or my boyfriend prior to that.

There isn't one person on here who has not effed up in a race (unless they are a spectator) or copped an attitude at some point. A joke is a joke. Mean is mean. Grow up. Did sh*t talking JB suddenly make you a better racer? Doubtful. Work on that. If you have an issue with the dude, tell him.

you can say 'shit' on this site:) at least you have a vagina and have an excuse for the 'cramp' thing. now the guys with the 'crampy man vaginas'......they dont have that excuse, but they always have another excuse waiting.

  34. @Anon 2:29 - I understand your point, but I also know that I am always (except the one time I told someone to hold her line) nice to the girls with whom I race and will generally pull someone who is struggling and yet people talk shit about me too...and I am a huge snob. *smirk*

I'm not saying you can't think someone is an assclown, but at least have the balls to talk to the actual person before you slam them online. If said person is a prick after that, oh well.

  35. Cory,

    Well, said:
"I'm not saying you can't think someone is an assclown, but at least have the balls to talk to the actual person before you slam them online. If said person is a prick after that, oh well."

Basically, not everyone is going to like everyone and if people listen to what every other person said about someone else in "the community" then nobody is going to get along..as everyone has at least one person who dislikes them or cares to talk sh*t on them. Bottomline, make your own judgements and opinions.
