A fat dude callin' out all the sandbaggers in the KC racing scene from his mom's basement.

Kansas City is King of the B's
You usually don't go accusing Cat1's of sandbagging because what are they supposed to CTFU to next? There aint no Chuck Norris CX category yet.
But still, you can't help but raise an eyebrow when you check the results of the so called "B" race at cross nationals and find that the winner is a Cat1. Second place was also a Cat1, but the rest of the top 10 finishers were 2's and 3's. So either he should not be in a race labelled as "B" and he was big time baggin, or they need to better define what "B" means. Its a question that others have brought up as well.
We all know what "B" means for the roadies out at the Tuesday nighter. For others, "B" means trolling the 2AM crowd at Blonde for some fat drunk chick to take home because the ladies at Biggs weren't havin it. And for r5, "B" means bustin out the Butt'r and Barelylegal-dot-com because his Real Doll sprung a leak.
As I understand it, Cat1 is elite. And it appears as though there is an "Elite" class and an "Open" masters class at nationals so you get to do more than one race with all that travel. At least he didn't pump his damn fist like a certain ex-pro did for winning the B's at Tiffany Springs in 08.
So F-it, maybe KC should dust off Tilford and send him to Oregon next year and make it three in a row. He could probably win the B's on a Huffy with two flat tires.

tilford would win b's on a 16" coaster brake bmx you buy at true value.
ReplyDeletejust make him run the damn thing!
ReplyDeleteAll those guys cherry-picked at Nationals and JingleCross. Check out the results. And you don't have to leave town to find cat 1's winning races OTHER than OPEN either.
ReplyDeleteWhy is half the open field from the same team? No wonder no one wants to upgrade in KC.
ReplyDeleteRE: "Why is half the open field from the same team? No wonder no one wants to upgrade in KC."
ReplyDeleteWell, how long has this been a problem -- one season. Don't get me wrong, it is a problem. But, its not like we knew that was going to happen.
I really doubt that is why people are not racing in the Open category. I'd be interested to hear from specific people that this was a reason why they didn't/don't upgrade.
The B race should be limited to riders who don't qualify to line up in a "Nationals" race.
ReplyDeleteSo where the hell were all the open guys at Epic? Just ONE GUY showed up. Thats just sad.
ReplyDeleteIt is highly irritating to see yet another fast racer join the same damn team. That only motivates me to KICK ALL THEIR ASSES when I get to open. That day will come. OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH YEEEEEEEEAAAAAH!!!
Tilford might start on a Huffy, but then he'd run around the crowd looking for a bike to switch out like he did for Jensen at HPT.
ReplyDelete@Jeff:
ReplyDeleteI am just jealous that I cant where KCCX on my butt. There are other things that I would like on my Butt to and its call Nut Butter!
That's right, Tilford was looking for a bike at HPT and it was my bike he used, or to be more accurate Jensen used! plus Tiford said he liked it!
ReplyDeleteSteve Tilford likes my bike!
true story.

ReplyDeleteWasn't the case with me. It's not Bills fault that he finds all the fastest guys. For me, Work related issues and the fact that I could only get to 3 races in '09 prior to cross season. Those 3 races only added to 5 hrs of racing (not counting stuff like tues night crit practice). I still started the season racing open, but quickly discovered the obvious. I was the only guy on my team in open so it was tough to not be out there. This year there's plenty of of mtb races going on locally, and i'll do a few more road events, so I'll be back in open full time next fall. Nobody has to cat up to race open anyway. anybody can try it, and decide what to do from there. Jump back and forth if they want. We don't have that option anymore buy any cat 4 or 3 can does.
ReplyDeleteI say big-freakin deal Shadd raced the B's at Nats and won...it's not like he's been winning the Bs every year and still comes back for more. Not to mention he raced the elite 1/2 race and took 55th, 2 laps down to the likes of some pretty elite fellas (i.e Tim Johnson, J-Pow, Jonathan Page, etc...all guys who represented the US at Worlds last week)...when you're up against guys like that at Nats and you have no chance at winning a National Championship, let alone not getting lapped, the B race seems rather appropriate AND a great way to warm-up and get a good feel for the course, before getting your ass handed to you by those guys..I'd take a National Championship, Bs or not, anyday, but that's just me!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Bill, why wasn't he in any races after BC3 in October?
ReplyDeleteI dont think anyone is calling Shadd out, its the system, what is the intent of the "B" race? Fix the system so that web sites like this don't have a place in such a fine sport as Cycling.
ReplyDeleteIf someone was new to KC or Cycling and read this shit, would they really want to be a part of it? Nope, right now we look like a bunch of idiots!
the godfather
Dear Godfather,
ReplyDeleteAgreed...I hope other cities haven't caught wind of this and are laughing in our faces.
Why can't we all just get along?
As I heard a wiseman recently said, "I'm a uniter, not a divider."
Dudes, its like this in EVERY CITY where there are a lot of guys who like to go fast on bikes. Sandbagging isn't even unique to cycling for that matter.
ReplyDeleteR5 is my hero.. Way to many turbo fascists riding CX these days anyways.
ReplyDeleteLet them have there lonely positions in the Open ELITE Category Races. That means more fun for folks who just enjoy racing.
It definately is NOT like this everywhere. I've lived on both coasts, now i'm stuck right in the middle. I've never seen any cycling scene stink like this. Everywhere else, everybody does there thing and don't get worked-up about who's racing what catagory and who's beating who and who should be "cat'ing the f up". We have people that don't race commenting about people that do, this racer commenting about that racer, guys that only do urban cross commenting about anybody that doesn't....and on...and on... There must be something in the water here. I'm glad racing is only a hobby of mine and not a full-time obsession.
ReplyDeleteI Agree the system needs to be fixed. A cat 1 racing a B race @ Nats is like him lining up in the 3 race at home IMO.
ReplyDeleteThere is an "elite" circle here that think they own the scene. How do you get more participation in this sport? Be friendly and encouraging to the new guys that you see at the hammerfests and the tuesday nighters etc.
ReplyDeleteI just want the good old days when we kicked back and smoked a doobie before the race. So mellow!!!
ReplyDeleteFast guys suck!
ReplyDeleteAubree,
ReplyDeleteDidn't George Dubya Bush say that?
Yes, there is an elite circle, but most or all of those guys are friendly and very approachable. I am not one of "them", don't train with any of "them", and don't hang out with them outside of that 60-90 minutes of racing with them. Whether it's Shadd, Mills, Winkler, Marshall or whoever, they have all been-there/done-that 10 time over and are more than willing to talk with anybody that is a new-comer to the sport or looking for advise on how to improve. Don't let one bad experience with one guy or from what somebody said about somebody keep you from talking to these guys and tapping into there experience.
ReplyDeleteNot sure, I don't follow politics...either way, that's not the "wiseman" I was speaking of.
ReplyDelete"I just want the good old days when we kicked back and smoked a doobie before the race. So mellow!!!"
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure G-Dub said that!
Hey does anyone know if Stan's will stop the leak in my Real Doll? Lil miss Liz "Rear" Hatch ain't doin so hot.
ReplyDeleteThat comes down to how tight the fit is around the rim ...
ReplyDeleter5 now needs a new keyboard...
ReplyDelete@r5:
ReplyDeleteyou need to upgrade your doll:
http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/02/01/sex.robot/index.html?hpt=T2
Just need to take a break in the RED ROOM and hangout for some kicks at One Eyed Jacks... You busy B's really make me feel a little lagged down when I'm just trying to contemplate what the next cool scene will be...
ReplyDeleteA summary:
ReplyDelete1. B races at CX nationals are a CF, damned if you do, and if you don't (because your competition will, and the age-group race you also do just isn't enough prep).
2. KC's 'elite' guys are approachable, but they have different rules and expectations than you do. You can't handle the truth, and if you quit with the smokes and Oreos, you'd learn the secret handshake, too.
3. Mark S. is still seeking higher levels of attention, and is pissed that Bill doesn't dig him.
4. The rest of the world doesn't have the problems we do. We suck, unless you're elite, or off finding a bike that's not in the pit, during a race.
5. r5 wore out his doll; calling Dr. Beren Holz.
Woof!!
ReplyDeletewoof woof woof, woof woof. woof woof woof woof, woof. woof woof woof!! woof woof? woof woof: woof woof wooofff!! w**f!?
ReplyDeleteMy humble opinion...
ReplyDeleteThe simple truth is that this website is a little mean spirited... but is it really that bad? I think it's funny. If you get called out just laugh it off and everyone will be better off for it.
i'd be upset if i got called out. If i was sandbagging then i'd take my medicine and CTFU, if i wasn't sandbagging then i'd be upset that i now had that reputation. C'est la vie.
Personally, i'm not going to use what r5, or any other poster on this site says, to formulate my opinion on any of these "sandbaggers."
Either way, be confident, make good decisions, and dont worry about what other's think. You'll be fine.
When I was a newbie racing mtb ten years ago, I found it impressive that Tilford had groupies. Also that he resembles Roger Daltrey. Those are compliments if you're reading, Steve. I'm a huge Who fan. If I was to have ever been a professional athlete that got to pick my theme song as I entered the arena or stepped up to the plate, it would have been Entwistle's bass line from Boris the Spider.
ReplyDeletecarry on...
NOBODY cares what r5 "thinks". Posting pictures of people and calling them douchebags is a whole other issue. When potential employers are seaching the internet looking at potenital candidates to see if they foul facebook pages, or whatever, and stuff like this is showing up, that's where the line got crossed.
ReplyDeleteThats why r5 has not used full names in his blog posts btw...
ReplyDeleteDouchebag is an "opinion."
If anyone googles their name and their sandbagger page comes up, r5 will fix it.
Fletch: I'm r5.
ReplyDeleteGail Stanwyk: Ohhhh, r5.
[they laugh]
Gail Stanwyk: r5 who?
Fletch: r5 Cock... tos... ton.
Gail Stanwyk: That's a beautiful name.
Fletch: Well, it's Scotch/Romanian.
Gail Stanwyk: That's an odd combination.
Fletch: Yeah, well, so were my parents.

ReplyDeletePoint taken.
You'd better be careful r5.
s.c.=r5
ReplyDelete"s.c.=r5"
ReplyDeleteYeah right. He WISHES he could satisfy a Real Doll like I can. Speaking of which, I think I hear Liz HatchBack calling...
No wonder you sandbaggers sandbag.... None of you actually have jobs. You really do need that 40 bucks you bagged your way into...
ReplyDeleteCompany CEO: Well, I must say, you have a very impressive resume. An undergrad degree from University of Chicago, a law degree from Harvard University and an MBA from Fresno State. And your work history is impeccable, just the type of thing we're looking for here.
ReplyDeleteInterviewee: Why, thank you, sir. That's part of what makes me a good fit for the company, in my view.
Company CEO: Certainly, and we've been impressed with your interview. A sterling candidate, one might say. But I was Googling your name and you came up on a blog that I would like to ask you about.
Interviewee: A blog? Which one? What did it say?
Company CEO: It had to do with sandbagging, and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure what it was getting at.
Interviewee: Oh, that sandbagging blog? That's just a bunch of...
Company CEO: Isn't sandbagging when you dunk your balls in one's mouth?
Interviewee: What? Excuse me? I think you're thinking of teabagging, but I don't see what that has to do with...
Company CEO: Do you think you could demonstrate this sandbagging thing on me? It won't hurt your chances of getting the job, you know. *winks*
Interviewee: OK, fuck this. I'm outta here [turns and leaves].
*************
See, r5 is actually doing some of you a favor. Showing up on this blog is the best thing that can happen for many of you.
I think I just swallowed my own tounge.......that is some funny funny shit!
ReplyDeleteArguing on the internet is like being in the special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna start a website to complain about stuff I don't like. Then invite my friends so they can support me anonymously.
Heh I don't know r5 but this blog makes me laugh at someone else's expense & I personally find that to be very very gratifying. I guess that makes me less of a human and I suppose one has to hope I'll grow up. . . just not yet....lemme wait to r5 pulls the blog!!
ReplyDeleteGood call posting that Special Olympics joke anonymously. Not so much because it's in bad taste - because I can't stand PC BS - but because it's been heard by everyone at least fourhundredeleventhirty times that you'd want to hide your identity having used it again.
ReplyDeleteI heard a lot of people were making a living at this.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the results from nats I thought, "WTF????" A cat 1 or 2 racer racing in the B's at cross nats? Then of course the justification came when he got crapped on in the Open Nats......At any rate....let the b's be b's......and dude, if you are riding the b's at nat's i guess it qualifies you to race no higher than b's on the tuesday night crits??? please bro! Don't embarass yourself and go for an easy 'national title'....it doesn't give any justice to yourself and it's quite laughable.....B's national champ???? BAGGER!!!!
